6th Street Residence.

This house is located in the Boulder Newlands, close to downtown.  Newlands has sparked discussions in Boulder about tighter construction rules based on the cookie cutter homes that were sprouting up, covering 80% of the lots and having no clear design agenda. This house is deliberately broken up ( fragmented ) to respond and in some ways respect the surrounding existing architecture. By breaking the house up into 2 volumes and rotating the roofs of the volumes the house fits better in the surrounding context. To add to this conscientious design strategy the existing house that was on the site was not demolished but put on a truck and moved to Louisville where it was set on a new foundation.  This house has an energy star plus rating and is build out of prefabricated panels.
